The Pryor Area Chamber of Commerce Needs Your Help!
The Pryor community has been very fortunate throughout the years. We have had
generous donors who have loved our community and contributed to its growth and prosperity.
W. A. Graham was one of the most notable. He entrusted the building he built in
1900 to the City of Pryor, directing it be occupied by the Chamber of Commerce. This
building is literally the Cornerstone of the City of Pryor, sitting at the intersection of Highway 69 and Highway 20.
Although the structure is one of a few buildings in our downtown that withstood the
tornado of 1942, years of pigeon infestation created a health hazard. In 2009, the
Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality ordered the building and all of its
contents condemned. This included all furniture and fixtures owned by the Chamber.
The City of Pryor has done a wonderful job of overseeing the restoration of the
character of this stately building. In a short time our current lease will expire and the
Chamber will be moving home. However, our Chamber personnel are currently working
from folding tables and boxes. Additionally, it is up to us to complete the interior
renovation. As the citizens and business leaders of Mayes County, we are responsible for
how our community is represented. The renovated facility will not only house our
Chamber, it will include a state-of-the-art business seminar center which can be used to
help the business community learn new technologies and business procedures.
Donations to complete the renovation, large and small, are welcome. A prominent
“Wall of Distinction” in the Chamber offices will acknowledge all who make a
contribution. You may make your tax deductible donation payable to the
Pryor Area Foundation, PACC Building Fund, P.O. Box 367, Pryor, OK 74362.
If you would like to donate online, you may do so by clicking the
PACC Building Fundraiser Event under our upcoming events.
Sincerely,
Ken Spencer, Chairman of the Board
