Pryor is served by the Pryor Public School District, which is comprised of two early learning education programs; three elementary schools for kindergarten through 6, one junior high serving grades 7 through 9, and one senior high school for grades 10 through 12.  The district employs approximately 212 teachers in its system with a combined enrollment of  2,700 students. 

Pryor School District is considered to be one of the best performing school districts in the State of Oklahoma. The District’s schools currently enjoy multiple prestigious state and national designations and awards, including:

• Lincoln Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary are two of Oklahoma’s 59 Blue Ribbon Public Schools, which have been recognized by the Department of Education for achieving superior standards of academic excellence;
• Lincoln Elementary, Jefferson Elementary and Pryor High School have been named as both State and National Schools of Character by Character.Org
• Pryor Jr. High School was designated a 2016 National Promising Practices in Character Education by Character.Org
• Roosevelt Elementary was the first school in Oklahoma to be designated a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey​

Additionally, MidAmerica Industrial Park and community business leaders work closely with Pryor Public Schools, providing resources for the creation of programs, which develop skills that align with employer needs and the development of a strong and educated workforce for the future.

A comprehensive workforce development program engaging area stakeholders including business, industry, education, and service agencies has been created. MAIP has committed $3.5M for the continued development of the program in Pryor and other Mayes County school districts, which also leverages existing partner resources.

Since 2009 the community of Pryor has passed three public education bond issues totaling more than $60 million.

A privately- operated elementary school in Pryor is the William Bradford Christian School.
