Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) is an Agency within the U.S. Department of Labor, which details labor and statistical data for all 50 states.

 

BLS Information Office/Southwest in Dallas services Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

 

U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) contains general information on the department and links to Web sites from its bureaus, including the Census Bureau and Patent and Trademark Office.

U.S. Department of Labor is responsible for the administration and enforcement of over 180 federal statutes for employers and employees, including workers' wages, health and safety, employment and pension rights; equal employment opportunity; job training, unemployment insurance and workers' compensation programs; strenghthening free collective bargaining and collecting, analyzing; and, publishing labor and economic statistics.

Better Business Bureau (BBB) is an unbiased organization that sets and upholds high standards for fair and honest business behavior.  Businesses that earn BBB accredited business status contractually agree and adhere to the organization's high standards of ethical behavior.  BBB provides objective advice, free business Reliability Reports and charity Wise Giving Reports, and eductational information on topics affecting marketplace trust.  To further promote trust, BBB also offers complaint and dispute resolution support for consumers and businesses when there is difference in viewpoints.

 

Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) is the state's only agency focusing on technology and its development, transfer, commercialization and impact on the state's economy.

 

Oklahoma Department of Commerce is the primary economic development arm of the state government.  Our mission is to increase the quantity and quality of jobs available in Oklahoma by supporting communities; supporting the growth of existing businesses and entrepreneurs; attracting new businesses; and promoting the development and availability of a skilled workforce.

 

Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Education is the nationally acknowledged system of 54 technology campuses covering the state that provides services to business and industry and their workforce.

 

Oklahoma Employment Security Commission matches the state's employers with       job-seekers.

 

Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality provides information on environmental issues, rules, policies, etc., SARA Title III, Oklahoma Energy Corporatio, and other issues affecting the environment in Oklahoma.

 

Oklahoma Investment Forum is a not-for-profit organization formed for economic development purposes to educate, encourage and promote entrepreneurship and small business development, as well, as early stage capital development in Oklahoma.

 

Oklahoma State Legislature:  The Oklahoma House of Representatives and Senate meet in Oklahoma City at the state capitol to consider changes in Oklahoma laws.  Their actions have a direct effect on Oklahomans and their quality of life, and our business climate.

 

Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance is a statewide network of manufacturing extension agents and applications engineers offers free technical assistance and business advice, helping manufacturers become progressively more successful.

Oklahoma Prosperity Project is a nonpartisan, election education service developed by the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce.  It does not endorse candidates and does not tell you how to vote, it is a tool to help educate Oklahomans and our businesses and industries on the election process and candidates.

 

Oklahoma Small Business Development Center provides high quality one-to-one business counseling, economic development assistance, and training to small businesses and prospective small businesses.  Assistance includes: business plan assistance; increased profitability; management support; innovation advancement; government contract assistance.

 

Okahoma State University - Okmulgee/MidAmerica is an Advanced Technical Training Center operated by Oklahoma State's University's Technical branch in Okmulgee, Oklahoma OSU-Okmulgee at MidAmerica Industrial Park offers some of the same high quality advanced technical programs offered on the Okmulgee campus.  The center offers college accredited courses, which can lead to an Associate of Applied Science degree, as well as, positions within industry.

Oklahoma Training for Industry Program (TIP) is consistently ranked as one of the nation's leading workforce training efforts, TIP is a no-cost/low-cost way for new or growing companies that create jobs to get a skilled, focused, and motivated workforce.  

 

Research Institute for Economic Development (REID)  The mission of the Institute is to promote economic growth through the evaluation of business, industry and economic growth issues considered by the Oklahoma Legislature.

 

Workforce Oklahoma is the generic term for a new state workforce development system where business leaders, educators and employment professionals are working together to achieve job growth, employee productivity and employer satisfaction.  Within this system is a network of statewide offices in which employment, education and training providers integrate services to help employers find qualified workers; employees find jobs and make career decisions; and, assist both locate workforce training opportunities.
