EconomyMayes County's effective buying income from 1989 to 1998 increased at a percentage rate that was considerably faster than Oklahoma as a whole. During the same period, retail sales also increased at a higher percentage rate for Mayes County than the state of Oklahoma.
The immediate retail area has a radius of 25 miles with a population of 135,150. More than one million reside within a 40-mile radius of Pryor.
During the past decade the region's population and effective buying power have grown much faster than every other area of the state.
